Log Kya Kahengy is an expression of that invisible pressure — the expectations, opinions, and unwritten rules that ask us to constantly measure ourselves through someone else’s eyes.

But what if we stopped asking?

This article is a reminder that individuality does not need permission. That joy does not need approval. And that a life lived entirely around other people’s opinions is rarely our own.

Maybe that is no longer the question.

The Front

The front carries the MALANG name through a cut-and-applied patchwork treatment.

Rather than presenting the logo as a conventional flat print, the artwork is constructed through layered, cut fabric — giving the piece a tactile and deliberately assembled character.

Smaller cut patchwork details extend across both sleeves, creating subtle variations around the garment and reinforcing the handmade language of the article.

The construction keeps the front relatively restrained, allowing the tactile patchwork and MALANG identity to speak without unnecessary visual noise.

The Back

The artwork explores the countless ways society tells us how we should behave — don’t dance, don’t laugh like that, don’t live like this, don’t be too much, don’t be different.

The question mark becomes important.

It is not simply asking what people will say. It challenges why their opinion should determine how we live in the first place.

Screen-printed messages build around the central statement, while block-printed cut patches are layered into the composition, bringing together the language of social commentary with the imperfections and tactility of handcraft.

The back becomes a visual conversation between expectation and expression — between what we are told to be and who we choose to become.

Craft & Finish

The article combines screen printing, block printing, and cut-and-applied patchwork to create a layered visual language.

The block-printed patches retain the character of the handmade process, while the screen-printed typography gives the artwork its graphic and contemporary edge.

Because the garment incorporates handmade and manually applied elements, slight variations in print, placement, texture, and finish may occur. These variations are part of the character of the piece — not imperfections to be hidden, but traces of the process that made it.
